Artist's Description

This fish pond was once used to raise Trout and re-populate some of the local fishing spots, but has now been left to go back to it’s natural state. It sits up about 100 feet above Mission Creek on top of the hill and is fed by a natural artesian spring. There are still fish in this pond along with turtles and water fowl and it’s a very pretty spot in the summer. This shot was taken last spring on one of my journeys to my parents home for a visit. In summer it is visited by the deer and bears in the area as well as the coyotes so one has to be a little cautious walking through here alone but I have never had any problems yet. There was one Grizzly bear attack here in the park this past summer and I have seen the bears but I’ve always made enough noise to let them know I’m there and they go the other way. I have found that most bears will not bother with humans unless they are cornered or injured and the more noise you make the better.
