For Those Who Love To Draw or would Love to learn How

A few years ago a good friend gifted me with a book titled “Drawing On The Right Side Of The Brain” by Betty Edwards. I Now see This as one of the most precious gifts I have ever been given, so I would like to share this with you all. This book is now one of the world’s most widely used drawing instruction books on the market. Whether you feel you have little talent and you doubt you could ever learn, or you enjoy drawing but haven’t been able to get much beyond child-like level, this book will show you how to gain the skill you have always wanted. If you are already drawing as a professional artist or an artist-in-training, it will give you greater confidence in your ability and deepen your artistic perception. This book will help you to develop the five basic skills needed to draw a perceived object, person or landscape ( anything that you see) by showing you step by step the perceptual skills needed to achieve the best possible result. These skills are not drawing skills but perceptual skills; The perception of, 1.edges, 2. Spaces, 3. relationships, 4. lights and shadows, 5. the perception of the whole or gestalt.Only two other skills are required: drawing from memory and drawing from imagination and these will come with learning the first five basic steps!Of course there are many techniques of drawing- many different ways of manipulating drawing mediums and endless subject matter, for example. But you first need to have the basic skills. It’s like riding a bike. Once you learn and have the skills you will never lose them.I have found this book to be invaluable! I am still working my way through the material but it is very easy to follow and gives you drawing exercises to do that will help you immensely in the pursuit of your goal, to become a good artist! The book sells for about 17 dollars US and can be found in your local book store or art supply store. You may even find it at the library but I would definitely recommend buying this treasure for yourself. It will be well worth the money! It has really helped me and if a dumb redneck like me can learn so can you! This book is a must have! You will not be disappointed.
