Oil on Canvas
24" X 20"
Leafing trough an old advertising magazine I found an attractive, sensual ad for jeans.
I was due to meet my friend Greta that day for lunch.
As we chatted trough lunch she asked what was my next painting of. Without thinking I thumbed the magazine and found the picture and nodded towards it.
She ummed and ahhed and with a critical eye said she owned just such an old pair of jeans and it was not her favorite.
“Besides” she said: “those panties could have been worn by my grand-mother!”, “no one wears those anymore”!.
Frowning and not a little bemused I was not convinced. The lingerie looked pretty fine to me and I said so!
“It certainly would turn me on” I advanced!
To which she rolled her eyes, stood up and in a roomful of lunchers thumbed the right front of her skirt down well below her hip bone and declared:
“These are what should be under that”!
She had a point!
I named the painting in her honor.
