When I was a kid

I remember a time I peddled a car,
caught lightening bugs and put in a jar.

Collected baseball cards and neat looking rocks,
kept under my bed in an old shoebox.

Rode a bike with big tires, that had no crossbar,
as I can remember, didn’t get very far.

Had a bell and a ladder on a red firetruck,
played on a dirt pile in the mud and the muck.

Jumped in the puddles when I played in the rain,
on the plywood in the basement, I set up my train.

I have fond memories of when I was a kid,
of all the good times and the fun things I did.
