To be Accompanied by Horns

We walked for awhile through this shade
They call it night
I call its name from desperation
Hearken on its lonely call
For the train whistle denotes not time
But experience, accompanied by horns

In my old age i will leave this town
I will uproot my dreams before i fall down
And with a drunken cry
I’ll toast to you and drink to die
And then when we meet again
I will raise my glass and adorn your name
In my mind
I’ll see the time so forlorn
When you were born
Accompanied by horns

Playing a magnificent tune
Your name will carry on
Ladies and saints shall weep
Your casket will be grand
You will have the finest brass band!

But when your headstone is worn
And your funeral dress tattered and torn
That day shall be accompanied by horns
