The Carriage of Confusion

Sometimes I think I could sit here forever,
Miss my stop and just carry on through.
Forget about work and the rush hour commute,
Head to Asia and learn Kung-fu.

The carriage is full of confused expressions,
Buried in newspapers and kindles too.
Eyes grow heavy and heads roll
Whilst searching the headlines for a clue.

We blur past patient platform hangers,
I’d turn around now if I were you.
Go back to your rented flat and pack a bag,
Head to India and hum with life’s guru.

The carriage stirs, iPads away,
I smile to myself, it’s the eager few.
They’re up, they’re ready, Oyster’s desperate to go,
Oh the beauty of an orderly queue.

‘You will shortly be arriving at’ nowhere fast,
Nowhere exciting and nowhere new.
I filter out with the herd as cattle,
And think to myself, tomorrow, I’ll do.
