This haughty peacock lives in the zoo and struts around as if he owns the place, which it very well might. I photographed him one night as the zoo was closing; he was completely fearless and walked right up to me like a guy who stands up to encourage an unwanted visitor to leave. For this design, I experimented with leaving blank spaces instead of filling in everything behind the surface, but the image wouldn’t have worked at all on a light-colored background, so I ended up dropping in a black layer behind the design to really make it pop.
