Awake Through Heavy Eyes

Days pass by without so much as a glance,
And then escapes the night,
Anxiety arriving like ripples over one’s self,
Ending with the clearance of another chamber.

Longing ceases to exist for the moment,
Glazing usually empty eyes,
My friends, the shadows dance cheerfully,
On walls that seem never ending.

I, too dance with glee sometimes,
To the beat of my unknown rebellion,
For the wars in my mind are resting,
But surely they will awake once more in fits of rage I must wrestle away.

Al though none of it seems to matter now,
I know this bliss will end,
While reality will stir from it’s momentary slumber,
Just as the battles do.

The stars won’t wink and smile,
The haze of understanding will lift itself up,
I will return most shamefully to ponder life,
In a way so different from before.

I, too will retire from the world,
And wait impatiently for morning,
So that maybe the cycle will start again,
And my soul may begin to live.
