Artist's Description

Absolutely beautiful and excessively miserable, this is one of the toughest places to shoot in the world – partly due to heavy rain over 300 days a year. In addition to significant salt-water wind, the Olympic Peninsula sees a unpredictable and rough coastal climate all-year round. Lost a camera here in this spot and other gear affected by such conditions. But I think the result was worth it :)

The ‘fog-like’ effect was attained through the use of a 64x Neutral Density filter with F/22, insuring maximum foreground / background detail, and due to true color neutrality, true saturation.

There was 7-stop difference between foreground / background luminance. To balance exposure values I used a 2-stop soft ND Grad and a 3-stop hard Reverse ND Grad. All filters are glass / multi-coated used are of true neutral density and emit no color cast.
