Artist's Description

There is a small city park in downtown Williamsport, Pennsylvania, called Way’s Park. For most people, it’s just a convenient shortcut from Fourth Street to Maynard Street. For me, it is a lovely place to spend a little quiet time alone. On this dark, rainy Saturday evening, I had the whole place to myself. The benches were all empty and inviting, but a little too damp for sitting.

A Canon EOS 30D DSLR body was used for this shot, fitted with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L Zoom lens. The lens was set to the 36mm focal length. The camera’s shutter speed was 1/6th sec at f/13 and the ISO was 100. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a “pistol grip” head. The photo was taken with a remote shutter release cable. It was a bit of a challenge to keep the raindrops off of the lens, but I eventually got this water-spot-free shot.
