This snow covered country road, deep in the heart of farmland, looked so pretty that I just had to stop to capture a quick shot. The heavy snow had just started falling, but there was already a special kind of silence in the air.
That wonderful winter quietness is present when big fluffy snowflakes muffle sounds by absorbing them and preventing echoes. It was as if there was a very thick wool blanket covering everything. Nature’s pure white “silencer” creates a wonderfully calm, peaceful feeling within.

You are looking up Bartlow Road, near the village of Clarkstown, in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.This photo was taken with a Canon EOS 10D body fitted with a Canon EF 35-350mm f/3.5-5.6L Zoom lens, at the 45mm focal length. The shutter speed was 1/45th sec at f/9. The camera’s ISO was set to 100. A Manfrotto, tripod was used with a remote shutter release cable.
