Artist's Description

An abstract from the back of the bulls.

Cart racing during the festivals is a common practice in India. Just today ( 31.12.2009 ) we had left for some different objectives to spot, while returning home we planned to visit Morachi Chincholi, a village famous for the population of Peacocks. Amidst the Moon getting it’s conjunction with the Sun today, peoples celebrate festivity on the beginning of new month. This tradition is followed in rural India at many places. Different villages, states have different beliefs and tradition finds her way.

This photograph I had taken during the rush hours of Bullock cart racing. These bulls were lined up for the racing and waiting for their turn. The yellow color is turmeric powder sprayed as it’s believed to be auspicious and finds it’s place in ceremonial use.

Equipment : Canon EOS 400D, Canon EF S 70 – 300 mm lens @ 75 mm.

Av – F7.1, Tv – 160 Sec. ISO 100. Hand held.
