Artist's Description

This hydrangea was an experiment in mixing random quantities of Prussian Blue and Madder lake. These are two new colors I have added to my palette and I was interested in determining how versatile each could be on its own and mixed together. It was a lot of fun playing with the mixes and randomly placing them within the structure of the hydrangea. The original is 13.5″×10″ in size and is entirely painted with Rublev 18th century reproduction watercolor paint on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper. The texture of the paper really works amazingly well with this paint to create some interesting effects.
