Artist's Description

This was a very fun piece to paint. I was going to go in and add some really dark red and black shadow areas to add depth to the flower but instead opted to keep it as more of a value study utilizing a single pigment. The flower is painted solely with Winsor & Newton Permanent Rose while the background is simply Daniel Smith Rare Earth and Bronzite. The original is 9.75″×13.75″ on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper.
