The Meaning Never Was Lost

It sizzled
It enveloped
The first “I love you.”
Whispered between lips
Slick with intent…
Wet with urgency…
Hot with impatience…

And yours was rare

Yours was true..
Perfect..
Stone firm..
Stead fast…

It was our moment..our climax
In the imperfect stage lights
Between the velveteen curtains and applause
I breathed it in
Tasted it on
The angles of your face
Like melting butter
Carassed with my fingers
And I knew that I would always need you

You nurished me
Tested my waters with a chilly finger
Tasted my mouth like a silent question
Held my hopes in your blue-green eyes

It sparkled
It grew
Slithered into my hands
Like feathery thread
And nestled like a bird
In my breasts
Your mouth sealed mine
Your tongue a soft visitor
Expecting a better reception
Avoiding my restless teeth

We are so alike
You and I
Just like everyone who ever lived..
Or loved..
Or cried…
Or tried to be honest

We wreak havoc and protect ourselves
With promises we can never keep
I hum a lullaby
And hold you
So you know
You would always need me…
