The Journey Of A Tear

He shed a tear
And my heart suffered
So I kissed his cheek
Taking it upon my lips
So lonely a tear
Isolated and growing cold
I feared it would freeze
To become an icy shard
So I took it within me
To be joined by my own
Its ilk is not unknown to me
And I might give it succor

I shed a tear
And I matched his gaze
Our blurred vision
Could not diminish the honesty
Arms wrapped with tender vigor
Around each other’s sobbing
Rattling our hearts’ prisions
So that they might be freed
From the guilt of love after life lost
Which seems a sin within itself
Denying the comfort of another
To cling to the inscrutable pain

We shed a tear
And he shared his fears with me
Understood to be understanding
Known to have known the same
Songs lyrical and sentimental
Reverberated upon plaster and soul
Culminating in watery smiles
And fond, sniffling chuckles
A memory….
A story…
A drink…
A soft kiss..
To symbolize union
It was then that I knew
I would love him enough to lose him….
