Artist's Description

I named the Gorgon in this picture Euryale, which is the name of one of the Gorgon sisters from Greek mythology and also because I didn’t like the look she was giving me. She was partly inspired by the film Labyrinth and a particular scene which featured a plant with eyes at the end of it’s stalks growing on the wall of the maze. Everytime it looked at something all the eyes and stalks would move as one. It was also inspired by wondering what would happen if all the snakes on a Gorgon couldn’t see what she was seeing and had to arch their bodies round to take a look.

Drawn with a technical pen, white gel ink and water colour pencil.
