Artist's Description

Ruins of an old lead mining village, now designated as a site of special scientific industry, probably as this was a significant non-ferrous mine from antiquity to almost modern times. The site was been worked since the bronze age and about the 19th century. Look up “Cwmwstwyth Mine” on Wikipedia for information. The houses were made of local stone and blend in so well that they are almost camouflaged.
Despite the obvious sturdiness of the houses, the Welsh mountains are now reclaiming the stone back from the buildings – and I think time is on their side regardless of the attempts of any preservation work.
