Artist's Description

Cotswold Collection
A soldier from the re-enactment of the Battle of Tewkesbury (1471) – possibly the bloodiest and most vindictive of battles in the War of the Roses. In the real battle, the forces of the House of Lancaster (red rose) was all but annihilated and it took 14 years to regain strength and attempt to take the throne from the House of York again. The battle is re-enacted each summer (July) on what remains of the actual battle ground close to Tewkesbury Abbey.
