Artist's Description

While driving and purposely lost on back roads in Amish country, I am like a kid in a candy shop! Each turn and twist has me full of anticipation of what I might see next. When you really get into the heart of the land, dirt and rutted gravel roads, the landscape is filled with gorgeous farms, an abundance of domestic farm animals and gentle rolling hills.

I’ve become fascinated with the Amish’s Belgian Draft Horses. To see them at work, pulling farm equipment is eye popping! It sort of feels like watching a Budweiser commercial on TV. Normally, I don’t see them in the fields like I do with the Amish Thoroughbreds.

This particular twist and turn, had me so excited. Those baby Belgian Draft Horses, were beyond adorable. To capture them side by side was most certainly a special gift!

As I grow with my photography experience, I find that being willing to seek out the unknown, to travel with time and patience (my car looks like its been through a muddy swamp), and to persistently wait for those special moments, for a one second click, pays off big time. Consider me blessed!!

This photograph was shot with a Canon 40D, equipped with an 18-200mm lens in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania USA.
