Artist's Description

Established in 1974, Corcovado National Park in Costa Rico, hosts an incredible array of birds, animals and reptiles.Species of birds (over 350), colorful Frogs, Monkeys, Jaguars and Puma (the last two, which are very rarely seen by spectators), dangerous snakes as the Boa Constrictor, and also Crocodiles can be found in nearby waterways .National Geographic called Corcovado National Park the “most biologically intense place on Earth!”

The White-Headed Capuchins, are monkeys that are often paired with accordion players. They can be seen swinging from tree to tree while walking through the tropical rain forest en route to Corcovado’s Atlantic Ocean beach. They are a highly intelligent species and even use tools as weapons, as well as for obtaining food. Their longest recorded life span is 54 years.

Once we reached the beach, these white faced critters were all over the place, of course begging for food! Along with the Monkey’s were the strange sight of Raccoon’s who also preferred human fare. It was a wonderful treat to see and observe them so closely!

This photograph was shot with a Canon 40D, equipped with a 75-300mm lens in Corcovado National Park, located on the Atlantic side of Costa Rico.
