Artist's Description

Known as both a ghost town and the mother of all mining towns, Austin, Nevada felt like a step back into the wild, wild west. I happened to see this old shack and of course my imagination went wild, thinking that maybe, just maybe, it was once a miner’s home. Located on Rt. 50, also known as the loneliest road in Nevada, Austin only contained 192 residents in 2010. However during its hay day, over 10,000 people flocked to the little town and the surrounding mountains. Apparently a horse kicked up a rock in 1862 that contained both gold and silver…and so, the rush began…

This photograph was shot with a Canon XT, equipped with a 75-300mm lens in Austin, Nevada, USA.
