November 2015 Top Ten Challenge Winner in Women Painters Group

This watercolor is a section of a long engineered painting, with a Japanese water pond influence and an outdoor feeling, Each element in the art is separately hand painted, meaning I did not paint one motif and use digital copying. It makes for a much more interesting piece, nothing is exactly the same.

I had been away from my paints and so enjoyed getting out the brushes. Koi, swimming along a river or creek, through rocks, waves, orchids and water lily flowers as they meander up stream. I love the small Koi pond in front of my studio, it inspires me as I paint, hearing the water fall. They recognize my voice when I talk with them and drop them some food. Tranquil, serene, calming, inviting…….

Hand painted on Strathmore watercolor paper, and is part of a long engineered mural design.
