Memories of a Life Gone by...

The Guns Of Navarone
This story has been told
Many a young boy, impressioned
Thinks – WILD

The reality is
People are killed
Maimed and dismembered
It’s not really a thrill

Should we remember
Should we glorify
This horrible action
That we see when we are young

Do we have to impress
The next that go by?
Aren’t we better off
Letting it slide

Surely we can learn
From stories told of old
Not through video and big screen
How recently, it was ‘solved’

We have not learnt,
We don’t seem to be getting better
Most of the time our politicians
Just end up getting burnt!

Start out honest, straight and true
I’m sure you think that most of them do
As surely they do,
Only to have them fuck up and get me to shoot you.
