Built in the 1800’s, this General Store had been family run until just a few years back, when the younger generation of great grand children sold the building and business.
Though the original building looked somewhat different, for the most part in the front, the original essence of the structure remains. I made many a journey in years gone by to the old store, which housed wonderful antiquated items displayed with grace around the store, yet still offering local people more modern needs of the only general store within miles in this rural area of Sullivan County NY.
Today these are the new particulars of this tradition of the past:
The building that for generations housed Heinle’s General Store is getting a makeover, and already has been enlarged to what seems like twice its former size. The building has been purchased by Nick and Laura Santana, who also own the complex of shops known as the Narrowsburg Mews.
