Artist's Description

The National Firefighters’ Memorial is opposite St Paul’s Cathedral. I have added a few flames to give the feeling of what they faced during 57 consecutive nights of bombing, which was known as the Blitz. I believe it was originally for the London WW2 firefighters, but was changed to honour all firemen throughout the UK who were killed in the line of duty.
