The Perfect Illusion

Are you looking for perfection?
Shall i point you in the right direction?
Are you ready for inspection?
All your faults out for detection.

Like the girls in magazines.
And the muscled men you’ve seen
Better than you’ve ever been.
There’s got to be some in between.

Perfection is just an illusion.
I have come to this conclusion.
Being perfect is a lie.
To strive for it will make you cry.

To be imperfect is our charm.
A crooked smile will disarm.
Curly hair, a freckeled face.
Your teeth not straight, or have a space.

Your hips are full, your legs are thin.
There’s no such thing as perfection.
There is no pattern. No list to check.
No rules to follow to be perfect.

There is beauty in our chaos.
Our imperfections are what make us.
So please don’t try to be the same.
Perfection is a losing game.

The world would be,
A boring place.
If we all shared,
A perfect face.

Artist's Description

Sometimes when I am out and about, I love to just sit and watch people. I think we are fascinating! So many different shapes and sizes and colors and personalities and personal styles. I know there is the typical standard of “beauty” but I think the beauty of us, is that we are so different.
