The Giant Redwoods National Park, California, USA.
We did a road trip a few years back, around the Pacific North West of America, so a visit to the Redwoods was an absolute MUST ! Not the easiest things to photograph AND do justice to, because of their vast size, so something is needed for scale. Ideally some mist too !
We came across this immense log where one of the trees had fallen, so I asked Alan, my partner, to walk out along it and pose for me………I wanted him to look very small in the image, against the backdrop of the surrounding forest.
The greens and reds added great contrast I feel.
Shot on my Canon EOS 20D, mounted on a tripod,18mm, f16, 3secs, iso 100, single RAW file, given a touch of (pseudo) HDR in Photomatix, adjusted in PS CS3, then a tad of Orton to make the texture of the wood pop.
