One of my favorite songs, definitely in my Top 100 of all time, “I’ve been through the Desert on a horse with no name, it felt good to be out of the rain, in the Desert you can remember your name cause there ain’t no one for to give you no pain”
The corral and horse belonged to a Navajo family. We slept by the side of the road not realizing we were on their land because we arrived after dark. A dog barking woke me early and I saw the family standing outside their house staring at us, at least til I turned around and saw the view in my photo Sunrise. When I turned back to them they were gone. We tossed our sleeping bags in the car and I took this photo of their corral before we began to explore the Valley. As we drove away I couldn’t help but think what it would be like to wake to those views every morning. Does it get old, commonplace, I don’t know but I think the family was watching the sunrise, paying little attention to us, so I don’t think it gets old.
