Pemaquid Lighthouse located in the Pemaquid Lighthouse Park in Bristol, Maine was commissioned in 1827 by John Quincy Adams. The original lighthouse was of faulty construction and a replaced in 1835. A Fog bell house and tower were constructed in 1897. The bell was later removed in 1934. The light, visible on a clear day for 14 miles, was the in Maine to be automated in 1934.
