Bleeding Rose

Delving through the darkened forest.
Sunbeams resting, light protesting,
Fir trees border, earning trust.

Sleeping wolves begin to rise,
As gleaming eyes leer.
Sneaking, watching in disguise,
Discerning all her fear.

Centre nears, moon appears,
Trees becoming sparse.
Red rose lies upon the snow,
Seeking comfort from her woe.

Cherished rose against her lip,
Stalk embraced with passion.
She does not want to lose her grip,
In spite of eyes that glisten.

Deep red blood begins to ooze,
Draining from the heart.
Rose has suffered from her bruise,
Neglected by the stars.

Stepping in the light of moon,
Warmth and love surrounds.
What delight to feel a swoon!
A swoon that knows no bounds.

She volunteers her final breath,
Graceful rose embodies death.
Breezes flow between the trees,
Lulling wolves to peaceful rest.
