Another Life

Flowing blindly to the sea,
Hope knew her way no more.
Swimming deep against the tide,
Until she lost the shore.

Lonely waters made no sound,
Daylight dwindled down.
Darkened waves were deadly bleak,
Toiling with a frown.

Far away the music played,
As islands dance by night.
Mere echoes skimmed the waves,
Its tune was out of sight.

Sinking low beneath the sea,
The chill of night did wane.
Ripples blurred the parting moon,
And soothed away the pain.

Silent darkness lulled like balm,
And swallowed her last breath.
Wizened words of watchful owl,
Disturbed her nightly death.

Drowning cries begin to dry,
While wind reveals its lore.
A new moon begins to bloom,
As waves lap at the shore.
