Artist's Description

Golden Gully is located at Tambaroora on the outskirts of Hill End in NSW Australia. Both known for their gold mining history, the area is now a haven for tourists, hikers and amateur gold panning. Tambaroora with once a population of over 2,500 people has now disappeared into nature with only a few old chimneys, cemeteries and shacks surviving. Golden Gully is a fascinating place to explore with its gullies, tunnels and holes left over from when the Chinese miners picked through this area in search of the gold left behind from previous mining. The beautiful golden colours of the strange mounds of dirt is what has given the area its name. There are two arches created by both Mother Nature and the miners from long ago.
