Artist's Description

This image depicts the tug Wato in the process of attaching a tow rope to drag the coal ship Brilliant River sideways out into the channel away from the Kooragang loading wharf. Four tugs are used in this process. The coal ship then proceeds down the harbour under the guidance of these four tugs and out past the iconic Nobbys Lighthouse.

The Kooragang facility has a export capacity of around 100 million tonnes of steaming coal annually.

The image was shot from the bridge of the Svitzer tug Hamilton using a Nikon D800, as is, no photoshop, 3.3.2013.
