Artist's Description

Big Ben is the nickname for the great bell of the clock at the north-eastern end of the Palace of Westminster in London and is often extended to refer to the clock or the clock tower as well.

Big Ben is the largest four-faced chiming clock and the third-tallest free-standing clock tower in the world. The original clock tower was built in 1288, after the old Palace of Westminster was destroyed by fire on the night of 22 October 1834.

The new Parliament was built in a Neo-gothic style and stands at a height of 96.3m (316 ft). The Great Bell (i.e. Big Ben) weighs 13.8 tonnes.
