Or just “viking,” I guess, because only one of them is wearing a cool hat :)
I’ve had this photo sitting on my hard drive for a while, and I’ve always been struck by the romanticism of it. The fact that they’re out on this canoe together, both working hard together to get where they’re going. The fact that she’s willing to be seen in public with a grown man dressed as a viking. There’s just something hopeful about the picture to me, and I’ve always felt that it tells a great story, or at least begs the viewer to tell one about it.
And even though I used my Canon PowerShot to take this picture, I think that actually adds an almost jewel-like, glittery overall effect to the composition of the photo. I’d even go so far as to say I’m glad I didn’t have my big-person camera with me when I took it.
Taken in East Rock park in New Haven, Connecticut with a Canon PowerShot SD750.
