Australian Bum

I sit and ponder the worlds affairs.
I notice the people who put on airs.
One week they’re up, the next they’re down.
Some scandal or rumour about the town.

We breath the same air, we walk the same street.
Me in my shabby waistcoat, and they looking neat.

Sure, they eat at fine restaurants,
behind the glass, looking like astronauts.
Launching off with tender delights,
drinking wine and conversational highlights.

Me I’m stuck here in my gutter of sin,
some left over fries and a bottle of gin.
Then I get to thinking, with my brain up there’s,
these people ain’t too different, just different cares.

We all need to eat, to fill our bellies.
I get my treats, they’ve got fancy jellies.
Sometimes I can think, I’m in the pits,
but with the little I eat, I don’t get the shits.
