CHARITY – Personal battles

It comes over in waves and always when least expected

Life was ticking along nicely too, well, life is what you’re trying to do

When IT appears, raising its f***ing head again, craving satisfaction

You look up but quickly bury your head it what you are doing

But it’s no use it’s already toying with your mind, urging you, pushing you

You capitulate.

Online…too easy – shit! and you’re away searching trying to find a way that lets you off and calms it down

Flights, timescales, itineraries, logistics, ahhhhh it’s ok it’s not ‘do-able’…

“Oh no…it is possible! Who the f*** started a cheap flight to there?!”

Calm now think hard for the excuse…yes that’s it, all is saved, blame the kids…it’s coz of the kids why it can’t be done!

But you know that the family needing your help can’t afford those luxurious sentiments

No excuses to give, none to understand, life is simple, too simple

All they ask for is something which costs nothing…your time and your effort.

But hey…the conscious is clear because if you didn’t have responsibilities then you would do it… Wouldn’t you?

“Well…hey…it’s the kids, the dog, the job, the money, the possible promotion, the gym membership not being used, the meaningless meetings I have to attend, Friday nights after work…we would have to borrow money to fund it?!”

All these reasons and more are not reasons but excuses to ease the mind to facilitate you in what you do best

Looking after number 1…

“C’Mon…someone will help them. Anyway what difference can one person make?”

Do it, try it…right now, at this precise moment, you have no idea what an impact you would have on someone’s life.

2.4 …it’s a fragile excuse

“Ok one day I will…I PROMISE…one day.”
