PeterParkerPA is a pop culture pastiche artist who draws his inspiration from a long history of video games, television shows, movies, and other nuggets of sometimes-forgotten, always-beloved goodness.

His first foray into pop culture mashups occurred by chance, when his two children – Taryn and John – stopped watching Pokemon and began watching Adventure Time. The link between the human child and yellow animal companion brought forth the idea for “Choose Adventure,” which was featured on TeeFury.com in November 2012.

His work has been shown in galleries around northeastern Pennsylvania, including the former New Visions Studio and Gallery in Scranton and Sole to Soul in Clarks Summit. He is often inspired to combine the pop icons of his own generation with those adored by his children. He was also one of a handful of artists selected for a tribute to “The Adventures of Pete and Pete” at a show in October 2014 organized by Consequence of Sound.

Parker, whose real name is Chris Hughes, is at heart just a geeky dad living in Scranton, Pa. A former journalist, Hughes currently works for his alma mater, Lackawanna College, in a public relations and social media role. His career in academia has opened up more free time to share his nerdiness with the world.
