Hello, it’s been a while since I’ve updated the profile, so here I go.
I’m a Merchant Mariner, and my interest is predominantly marine photography, but I don’t limit myself to that subject.
I also like to photograph the Australian bush, especially rivers, lakes and waterfalls.
I own 5 cameras, one Pentax K10D, a Pentax K100D, A canon compact, powershot SX 100 IS (lost at sea) replaced with a Olympus u tough), and a compact underwater camera for seagoing shots where getting moist is an issue. I have also added a Fuji finepix 200 EXR. I used to own a Pentax IST/DL.
Currently I’m working on the PB Karepo, which is a towing vessel used to tow barges for the Gorgon project at Barrow Island. Recently we joinedthe ship in Hong Kong, and brought it to Perth WA to begin work on the project. I live in Melbourne, but have lived in Tasmania, and Sydney. My travels have taken me to Antarctica, Peru, Chile, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Thailand, Philipines, Malaysia, Brunei, USA, and the Caribbean islands of St Lucia and Aruba. i’ve circumnavigated Australia more times than I care to think about, lol.
I’d like to thank my fellow Red Bubblers for their support and for viewing and commenting on my work, all very much appreciated. Thankyou all! :-)

I bought it because you have clear all around views from the deck, and it’s a walk around deck. It will allow me to get some better angles, not only at sea, but in…

Back from Bintulu, Sarawak, East Malaysia

What a trip!! / Never have I eaten or drank as much in my life. / The town is off the tourist track, exists to service the oil and logging industries. / Unfortuneately, my working hours weren’t condusive to photography, as we headed out to the ship very early, and came back after dark. / I didn’t get to do anything in Kuala Lumpur, as I had just enough time to have a quick sleep and …

Off on another adventure...

Tommorrow I head off to Malaysia, flying out of Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur, overnighting there, and then flying to Kuching, and then to a one horse logging and oil town called Bintulu. / Bintulu is on the northern side of Borneo, in the Malay state of Sarawak. This should make for some interesting photos I hope, but from what I’ve read of the place there’s not much there. / In Kuala Lu…

Well guess what??

I’ve just bought some interesting bits of camera gear. / A dedicated flash unit by Pentax (AF-540 fgz) for nearly half it’s retail value from ebay. The only drawback is that the manual is in chinese. But the Pentax web site had the english version. A 75-310mm telephoto zoom lens by Tamron, also for cheap frm ebay, and an unusual bit of photo kit, a dinghy. / the dinghy is a car toppe…
