Artist's Description

Mt Hua is one of the sacred mountains in China and it is located near Xi’an. It is actually comprised of 5 peaks with a chairlift going most of the way up to North Peak. People climb the mountain at night to be there at sunrise. they have to scale near sheer walls with just toeholds and very low chains fastened to the rock face for support in some places and in other very narrow wooden walkways with sheer drops. This shot was taken from North peak looking out towards one of the nearby hills with the rockface of another of the peaks in the background. The building on the hill accomodation and the one with the umbrellas is a tourist trap selling souveneirs.
