Artist's Description

I put this photo up here not because it is particularly beautiful but because it says something about modern urban life.

Seeing this wonderful sunset over Mexico City’s horrendous concrete jungle set my mind running on and about what we are doing to this planet. I’ve read that the Aztecs lived here because the climate was so nice, and because the huge lake (which has been drained and no longer exists) provided so much food.

It is hard to imagine now. For three months a year the smog is so bad your eyes water. The lake is reduced to a series of underground sewage tunnels.
