It was pitch-black dark outside. No clouds were in sight, and there was a crescent moon hanging in the sky for all to see. Four boys, just in the prime of their teen years, crept stealthily towards the abandoned gas station. Parked at the gas station was one of those old Jeep woodies, with two flat tires, and peeling paint, showing the rusty metal beneath.

“Ssshhh,” said the shortest of the boys. Though small, people tended to underestimate his strength and wit. With long dirty blond hair done up in a ponytail, he could have been a stoner, or head banging rocker.

Crack! A dry rotted stick broke under the weight of heavy-set Jon, causing all four boys to immediately stop, and peer furtively about. He looked sorry, as the ringleader Evan glared at him.

Evan was tall, blond haired, and lean. A gleam twinkled in his violet eyes as he reached the old jeep.

“Now, let’s see if there’s any valuables in here,” said Roy. Last but not least, the dark skinned muscular Italian was the strongest of all out of the group of boys.

“Come on Roy, this here old Jeep has been sitting here for the past fifteen years,” the kid with the ponytail said. “Do you honestly think that there’s any left?”

“Well, Well, you never know,” he groveled.

“Hey, what’s that?” Asked Evan. He pointed to the shine of metal in the back seat. As all four boys crowded around the dusty window, a motion sensor sent a silent alarm to the old man’s house.

The old man withdrew his knobby cane from the closet. He set out with a determined, yet worried gait. He hoped it wasn’t too late.

“It looks like gold,” said one of the boys.

“Well, there’s only one way to find out boys; someone open her up,” said Jon.

The short blond boy reached for the handle just as the old man saw them clustered around the Jeep.

“Nooooooooo!” He cried in vain, just as Jon pulled the handle and cracked the door. The boom of dynamite echoed through the area. The fire was so hot that it vaporized all four boys and the Jeep, while the old man looked on in sadness.
