Artist's Description

The biggest robbery in Australian history …and this crime was committed by Frank Gardiner and his gang in 1862 not far from the Lachlan River gold rush in central New South Wales.

On June 15, Gardiner and his men hid behind the Eugowra Rocks, waiting for the the gold escort to come past. The carriage was laden with gold and bank notes. You can read more about the historical event here:
