Artist's Description

These angels were inspired by the paintings that decorate the roof and walls of the ancient Debre Berhan Selassie Church in Gondar, Northern Ethiopia.

Rural women in Ethiopia suffer terribly from a lack of access to appropriate medical services. Hamlin midwives are well-trained to deliver maternal and child health services, and their work saves the lives of women who otherwise would have died in childbirth.

All of the artist’s profits from the sale of this work will be donated to Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia via the Midwife for Mother’s Day project, a fundraising initiative to raise the equivalent cost of a Bachelor of Science degree for one Ethiopian woman to become a Midwife at the Hamlin College of Midwives in Addis Ababa.
