Untitled (the rainy one)

There’s nobody else left in the world
Because the rain has washed them away.
Alone, I slowly grow in the rain
As I make my way down to the harbour.
It’s easy, as always, to imagine the places
Where all the tall ships could take me from here,
But why should I go? I never expected
That under grey skies and a pallid sun
Things would grow bigger and brighter
And newer than anywhere else in the world.
And the harbour’s so big, it would take several lifetimes
To wait for the wind to return on its circuit.

…Raindrops form ripples on the dreamy water.
