I Suppose

I suppose

I suppose it was inevitable
This collision of antagonists
An and pro switching roles
In bedeviling ruthlessness
Still I arrived at this threshold
Finding a path in my garden
Solitude quietly awakening
With hot morning coffee
And sun lit flowers whispering
Encouraging, enlightening
The next word held prisoner
By the now words chains
The unveiled sentence
In the shadows waiting
For the moment of freedom
Again, in anticipation at the edge
Of uncertainty
Once glance back and then forward
My hand began to tremble
As the thoughts flowed from my pen
Unencumbered by intent or purpose
Line by line spoke the voice once more
Butterfly wings on the breeze
Fluttering thoughts
On the cool morning air
Settling around my shoulders
Speaking through my hands
Singing to my heart.
