Artist's Description

This beautiful bird is the National Bird of Tanzania, and resides mostly on savannahs in Africa, nesting in marshy wetlands. This bird was spotted in the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania. It feeds on small fish, seeds, grains, worms, frogs and the like, spending 50-75% of its day looking for food. As it walks it stomps its feet in hopes of getting insects to rise and fly. They are monogamous, and pair for life. There are about 18,000 of them in East Africa, and they are on the endangered list.
