Letter in a Box

A veil wrapped loosely—thin, torn, and soft with the countless hands that rubbed it out of existence. A veil wrapped loosely around broken words and the remnants of moths. A veil wrapped loosely pulled back auburn hair.
A dark shroud pulled tightly against shattered sights and emerald eyes. A bandage of mercy when the sorrow was found in the marrow, too deep to retrieve, and as embedded as the coals in her heart—dimly burning, but still alive, glowing softy, barely alive. A strong wind and she might go out. But with a little luck, and a little spirit, and a little push, and a little pull, she might spark.
A little something and she might burn.
