Artist's Description

This work feels as though it is not as realized as it could be, and could in a sense be seen as more of a study than a finalized work. I was unsure while making this image whether to use digital alterations of “Metropolis – Cityscape Montage #1” (used as an advertising poster for the film of the same name, now generally attributed to Boris Bolinsky*) or photos of Vancouver.

I opted for the former, although now I am not so sure. I am interested (like so many million others) in the complex ambulations of body and mind which occur in any urban landscape. The directed or aimless walks through a city mirror the long walk we take which is called life. Do I turn this way ? Or that ? Am I on a schedule, or can I take my time ? Do I know where I’m going ? Do I know where I am ?
